THE National Office for Technology
Acquisition and Promotion, NOTAP, has introduced an educational and
instructional tool aimed at planting the seeds at the basic educational level.
The initiative which NOTAP said is intended
to arouse and sustain the interest of school children in science and technology
at the basic education levels for breeding the future workforce needed to
transform and modernise the Nigerian economy, involves step-by-step graphic and
pictorial representation of the technological process of transforming raw
materials to final products.
Minister of Science and Technology, Dr.
Abdu Bulama, in his remarks at the occasion of launching the Technology Story
board programme and unveiling of Technology Story Book Project Initiative by
NOTAP in Abuja, said the project was another demonstration of NOTAP's
commitment to ensuring that science and technology, which is globally the
engine that steers development.
With this initiative, he said, NOTAP has
demystified science and technology through a simplified pictorial
representation of products production and manufacturing processes.
"Interestingly, most of these
products, the raw materials and the final products are both well known to
children in Nigeria, while the intermediate processes remain a mystery,"
he said.
